What makes them think it’s true?
What makes many – in non-Muslim societies – believe they finally found what they were looking for in Islam?
When you analyze it, you’ll discover that the strength of Islam lies in its simplicity!
Islam is a very simple religion to understand.
What do we mean by Islam’s simplicity?
Let’s see…
1- In Islam, we believe that God is One. Finish! Easy! No complexity. He is Only One, as simple and easy as that!
God Almighty says in the Holy Qur’an: "Say: ‘He is God, the One and Only; God, the Eternal Refuge. He does not beget nor is he begotten, nor is there to Him any equivalent." (Chapter 112).
2- God is Just; He does not make you inherit a sin which you didn’t do or make someone else pay for your sins. Everyone is responsible ONLY for his deeds, nothing more and nothing less.
God says in the Holy Qur’an in Chapter 6: Verse 164: "And every soul earns not blame except against itself, and no bearer of burdens will bear the burden of another"
3- If one falls short (which everybody will!), then all required is sincere repentance; that’s all!
God is the Oft-Forgiving; Most Merciful; All-Loving.
He accepts those who sincerely return to Him.
He says in the Qur’an: "…O My servants who have transgressed against themselves (by sinning), do not despair of the mercy of God. Indeed, God forgives all sins. Indeed, it is He who is the Forgiving, the Merciful. Return (in repentance) to your Lord and submit to Him…" (39:53,54).
4- No intermediary in Islam. You pray to
God directly! No need to pray to Him in that person’s name or that lady’s name, regardless of who they are! Not even in Prophet Muhammad’s name!
God is All-Hearing. He does NOT need a middle man between Him and you. He is closer to you than what you think! So, call upon him and He shall listen to you.
God says in the Qur’an: "And when My servants ask you, concerning Me – indeed I am near. I respond to the invocation of the supplicant when He calls upon Me…"
(2:186).
5- There is no clergy in Islam; no infallible people in Islam!
Yes, there are scholars, but they are only learned people; that’s all! They do make mistakes and can be questioned. They must back-up whatever they say by the Word of God (the Qur’an) or the teachings of the Prophet (peace be upon him) (the Hadeeth), otherwise it would be rejected. They are not holy men.
6- The Holy Book of Islam is only one. There is no dispute about versions or anything…There is only one undisputed version, available in its original language of
Arabic. So, the Qur’an you get in the US is the same as the one you’d get in UK, Germany, Africa, Arabia, India, China, Japan and everywhere!
God Almighty promised to preserve it and He has kept His Promise; He says: "Indeed, it is We who sent down the Message (i.e. the Qur’an), and indeed, We will be its guardian." (Qur’an 15:9).
8- Finally, the Qur’an does not contradict established scientific facts.
For example, God Almighty poses this question to those who don’t believe in Islam: "Have those who disbelieved not seen that the heavens and the earth were a joined entity, and We separated them and made from water every living thing? Will they not then believe?" (Qur’an 21:30).
Big Bang and creation of life in water are recently discovered facts! Who could have told this to the illiterate Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) more than 1400 years ago?! Who, but the Creator Himself?!
So, in a nutshell, what attracts people to Islam is the fact that it makessense; it appeals to human reasoning; it is easy to understand. In one word, it is SIMPLE.
Now, after what you’ve seen, let me ask you: Doesn’t Islam make sense to you?!
Don’t you think that Islam is the truth you have been looking for?
